KIDS WITH FOOD ALLERGIES HONORED AS 2013 TOP-RATED NONPROFIT
New GreatNonprofits.org Award is Based on Positive Online Reviews

new badgeFountainville, PA. (October 16, 2013) – Kids With Food Allergies, a division of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, announced today that it has been honored with a 2013 Top-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations. This is the second year that the charity has been a Top-Rated Nonprofit, having also received the award in 2012.

“We are honored to be named a Top-Rated Nonprofit again this year,” states  Lynda Mitchell, Senior Director and Founder of Kids With Food Allergies. “We are proud that those we serve find value in our accomplishments this year, including our leading educational webinar series free to parents across the country; our education and support programs for families to keep their children safe and healthy; and the advocacy work we do in partnership with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.”

The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that Kids With Food Allergies received – reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients. For example, one person wrote, “KFA was our "lifesaver" when we first entered the world of food allergies and were completely lost trying to figure out the day to day aspects of *living* with food allergies. Our allergist has been great at medical advice, but KFA filled our huge need to be able to do basic things like go grocery shopping and figure out how to safely feed a child with food allergies. KFA is our "go to" resource for great evidence-based information and practical "how to" information as we've navigated holidays, birthday parties, family events, and sending our children with food allergies to school. The KFA support forums are warm and welcoming.”

While the Top-Rated Awards run through the end of October, Kids With Food Allergies was part of the inaugural group to qualify for the year.

“Savvy donors want to see the impact of their donations more than ever,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “People with direct experience with Kids With Food Allergies have voted that the organization is making a real difference.”

Being on the Top-Rated list gives donors and volunteers more confidence that this is a credible organization.  The reviews by volunteers, clients and other donors show the on-the-ground results of this nonprofit.  This award is a form of recognition by the community.
