Parthenon Food Importers Ltd recalls Kydon brand Tahini due to undeclared peanuts.

 

OTTAWA, September 14, 2012 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Parthenon Food Importers <abbr title="Limited">Ltd.</abbr> are warning people with allergies to peanuts not to consume the Kydon brand Tahini described below. The affected product may contain peanuts which are not declared on the label.

The affected product, Kydon brand Tahini, product of Greece, is sold in a 500 <abbr title="millilitre">mL</abbr> container bearing <acronym title="Universal Product Code">UPC</acronym> 6 90651 77450 6 and Best Before date 16-10-2013. This product has been distributed in British Columbia.

There has been one reported illness associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to peanuts.

Parthenon Food Importers <abbr title="Limited">Ltd.</abbr>, Richmond, <abbr title="British Columbia">BC</abbr> is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The <acronym title="Canadian Food Inspection Agency">CFIA</acronym> is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall
