Kaléo recently announced that they changed the hold time of their AUVI-Q epinephrine auto-injectors. They changed the time from 5 seconds to 2 seconds.

According to kaléo:

The November 2017 update to the AUVI-Q (epinephrine injection, USP) label included a change in hold time from 5 seconds to 2 seconds. There has been no change in how the AUVI-Q device delivers epinephrine; the functionality of the device is the same. AUVI-Q has always delivered the epinephrine dose in less than 2 seconds. This change in the hold time from 5 seconds to 2 seconds is a labeling change to more accurately reflect the time it takes to deliver a complete epinephrine dose.

If you have AUVI-Q auto-injectors that aren’t expired and still count down from 5 seconds, there is no need to return or replace them.
