Moms and Kids Host Play-In to Bring Attention to Need for Climate Action

The air we breathe is changing along with our climate. These changes are affecting people with asthma and increasing asthma rates. And our children are most vulnerable to the negative impacts.

On July 11, 2018, moms and their children will host the fifth annual Play-In for Climate Action. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) will join Moms Clean Air Force on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to support action against climate change. The family-friendly event will have kids’ activities, music and speakers. Kids With Food Allergies is a division of AAFA.

What Effects Does Climate Change Have on Asthma and Allergies?

Many children with food allergies also have asthma. And climate change is a huge threat to those with respiratory diseases like asthma. Recent studies show air pollution can cause asthma. Many children with food allergies also have seasonal allergies to pollen. Climate change has also caused pollen levels to go up as pollen seasons last longer.

AAFA and KFA support action against climate change because of its effect on those with asthma and allergies. We are joining the Play-In for Climate Action to fight for climate change and lower asthma rates.

What Can I Do to Take Action?

If you live near Washington, D.C., bring your family to the play-in and help us call for change. We must all work together to create a better environment for those with allergies and asthma.
