Spooky snacks are a fun way to celebrate Halloween with family and friends.

Remember to check all labels to ensure ingredients are safe for your child. It is best to not try new foods or ingredients on a holiday.

Graveyard Layered Dip

Make a Mexican layered dip and serve with tortilla or pita chip cutouts. Layer your choice of refried beans, guacamole, dairy-free sour cream, dairy-free cheese shreds and chopped black olives.

To make the chips, cut shapes from tortillas or flatbread using cookie cutters. You can use corn tortillas, flour tortillas or split pita bread. Coat lightly with oil and season with salt. For more flavor and color, you can sprinkle with chili lime seasoning or chili powder. Bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Baking time will depend on the size of the chips.

Mummy Dogs

Wrap hot dogs or precooked mini sausages with thin strips of dough. Use your favorite biscuit or bread dough. Butterhorn Crescent Rolls make a great dough for this. Roll out dough and cut into thin strips. Wrap each hot dog in overlapping strips, and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 375 F for 13 to 17 minutes or until hot dogs are heated through and the dough is golden brown. Mini sausages will take less time to bake.

Cookie Cutter Creations

What could be better for Halloween breakfast than pancake cutouts?

Use your favorite pancake recipe or try our favorite dairy- and egg-free pancakes. For gluten- and wheat-free pancakes, try Joey's Pumpkin Pancakes. Cook your pancakes as usual, then cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Metal cutters with a sharp edge work best.

For a quick dinner, serve crispy taco cutouts. Cut shapes from corn or flour tortillas. You'll need two of each shape. Spread refried beans on one shape. Top with your favorite taco or quesadilla fillings – cooked chorizo, green chilies, regular or dairy-free cheese shreds. Top with a matching shape.

Preheat a wide pan over medium heat. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil. Gently place tacos in the hot oil and press down on them gently with a wide spatula. Don't put too many in the pan at one time or it will be hard to flip them. When the bottom is browned, carefully flip each taco and cook to brown the other side. Decorate with olives or jalapenos if desired. Serve with your favorite taco toppings, such as salsa or sour cream.

Make ghost treats using a batch of Rice-Only Crispy Cereal Treats. Press into a large pan lined with parchment paper to make an even layer. After it has firmed up, use the parchment to lift out the whole sheet. Use cookie cutters to cut shapes, such as ghosts. Decorate with chocolate chips or candies.
