Announcement

Salisbury, Maryland - Handy Seafood Incorporated (“Handy”) is voluntarily recalling approximately 71 cases of Blue Crab Mini Crab Cakes, as identified on Attachment A. The voluntary recall is limited to this product which was distributed to Whole Foods stores in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, and Rhode Island between November 11, 2016 and November 23, 2016. Whole Foods has confirmed that less than 60 individual trays of the product have been sold to the public. The voluntary recall is being made because of Handy’s discovery during a routine review of its recipe that the product contains milk byproducts and anchovies which are known allergens but which are not declared on the label, a copy of which is below.

There have been no confirmed reports of illnesses or reaction due to the consumption of this product. The product should be returned to the store where it was purchased for a refund or contact Handy directly for refund if product is thrown away.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Brendan Sweeny at 410-912-2000. Media with questions about the recall can contact Todd Conway at 410-912-2000.
