“One in 13 children in America now has a food allergy. Allergic reactions to food can be serious and potentially life-threatening,” says Lynda Mitchell, Vice President, Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Kids With Food Allergies Division. “Parents and caregivers need to learn how to prevent allergic reactions and recognize the symptoms. They also need to be prepared to act quickly should a reaction occur. We are thrilled to be partnering with The Balancing Act to share the latest information on food allergies. We want parents raising children with food allergies to learn how their children can live full and healthy lives.”

The Balancing Act series will talk about different kinds of food allergies and related health information. The series will also include food and cooking tips and recipes for back to school through the holidays. Additionally, the show will cover how parents can use an “allergy action plan” away from home or at school when kids are in the care of others.

KFA keeps children safe and healthy by educating and supporting their families. KFA offers educational resources as well as recipes and nutrition information. KFA also offers the largest online community for families raising children with food allergies, with 40,000 members. Its mission is to improve the day-to-day lives of families raising children with food allergies and empower them to create a safe and healthy future for their children.

About Food Allergy
Food allergy is a serious public health priority affecting millions of adults and children. An estimated 1 in 13 children in the U.S. now has one or more food allergies, and studies show a rise in prevalence over the past 10-20 years. Despite the risk of severe allergic reactions known as anaphylaxis, which can be fatal, there is no cure or preventative treatment for food allergy. Allergen avoidance and management of allergen-restricted diets is crucial to prevent allergic reactions. Prompt treatment when faced with an allergy emergency is essential to save lives.
