An Australian company with eight different types of kid-friendly, "free-from" cereals recently arrived in America.

Freedom Foods began 20 years ago Down Under. They operate a state-of-the-art factory, making a variety of rice, corn, buckwheat and sorghum cereals. Their high-protein cereal, Pro-Teen, is made with garbanzo bean flour (instead of soy or wheat, like other brands).

The company makes look-alike versions of sugary childrens’ cereals in a plant that is free of major allergens: wheat, barley, triticale, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, dairy and sesame seeds.

The cereals are called:

  • Tropico’s
  • Rice Puffs
  • Rice Flakes
  • Maple Crunch
  • Corn Flakes
  • Ancient Grain Flakes
  • Pro-Teen Crunch
  • Cocoa Crunch

To achieve a high-quality allergen-free cereal, the company says it takes the following steps:

  • It works closely with growers
  • It mills its own flours on site
  • It tests continually to the lowest levels of every batch it makes to make sure the product only contains what it says it does.

Since exhibiting in ExpoWest, a natural foods trade show, earlier this year, they have started selling in Fred Meyer, Stop & Shop, Wegmans, and more. To locate a store near you, check the company’s Facebook page and put your zip code on their Locations tab. Or, contact them through their web site.
