Children with food allergies have new options for portable treats on the go or to take to school, thanks to two “free from” food companies.

HomeFree®, one of the first bakers of commercially-available cookies free of peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, gluten, wheat and dairy, is now offering its chocolate chip mini cookies in a 4-bag snack pack. (For people who want more bags on hand or for retailers, the company sells 10 bags in a convenient display box).

HomeFree®, based in New Hampshire, also introduced a new Lemon Burst mini cookie to its product line. The Lemon cookies are made from gluten-free oats. They also are free of soy, sesame, corn, and rice. The cookies are certified kosher pareve, non-GMO, and vegan.

Don’t Go Nuts™, a brand of soy butter and energy bars, is introducing portable dip soy butter cups. The company said the Dip Cups will be on store shelves in a few months and available online in a few weeks. The flavors are the same as their full-sized siblings: Chocolate, Cinnamon Sugar, Lightly Sea Salted, Slightly Sweet, and Unsalted. The soy butter is made in a facility that processes dairy, but not on shared equipment. The dip cups come 8 to a package, 1.2 ounces each. 

The company also announced that all of their products are now certified gluten free by the Gluten Intolerance Group.

Both HomeFree® and Don’t Go Nuts™ unveiled the new products earlier this month at Natural Products Expo West, a biannual trade show. The next one is Expo East in Baltimore in September.
