Many of our members in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas may be affected by Hurricane Irma. Now is the time to prepare, especially if you or members of your family have asthma and/or food allergies.

While the storm’s forecast is uncertain, it’s not too early to prepare in the event you need to evacuate or will be out of power. Even if you’re not in the storm’s direct path, you may be affected by power outages or disrupted deliveries of foods or medicines.

For those families with food allergies or asthma, you can find help on what to include in your disaster preparedness kit on our blogs.

Preparing for Natural Disasters When You Have Asthma

Kimberly, author of the blog The Food Allergy Mom, wrote a detailed blog post on lessons she learned during Hurricane Harvey. If you are in the path of Hurricane Irma, hopefully some of this may be helpful to you.

Our hearts go out to all of our members preparing for Hurricane Irma, wishing you safety in the days and weeks ahead.
