Does "smaller" refer to height, weight, or both? I'm wondering how much of the size difference has to do with nutritional deficiencies vs. an overall awareness of our diets. Because we read every label, every time, we notice not only allergen-containing foods, but also artificial colors, flavors, and sweeteners. Our kids eat a lot less junk food than average American kids, and we eat out a lot less too (restaurant food tends to be higher in fat and sodium than home-cooked food). That...

You can definitely make this w/ real butter. The texture will be a little softer than with the shortening, so hold off on putting all of the liquid in til you see what your consistency is like.
Hi Yvonne - sorry you had a bad experience at Chipotle. Have you checked them lately?? They're in the process of phasing out the soy in the offerings in favor of rice bran oil. http://community.kidswithfooda...hipotle-menu-changes Also, we have a number of members who are vegan and dealing w/ other food allergies as well - I encourage you to post on the forums asking whatever questions you have.
We have found our local Applebee' s to be very supportive of our granddaughter's allergies (top 8 plus tomatoes, beans, peas, corn, beef). They cook her a chicken breast in a clean pan w/o oils, steam her fresh veggies from unused previously unopened packages of each veggie, lettuce w/o dressing (sometimes she has her chicken in the salad and we bring some dressing she can have), etc. And, they come check on her frequently to make sure there are no problems. They do it all with a friendly...
Hi sumo60 - frequency of testing is something that is very individualized. I will say that a lot docs used to test fairly regularly - like at the annual check up appointment. However, studies have shown that testing along is not enough to diagnose an allergy. It's just 1 part of the equation. Also, a good portion of eczema is not caused by foods. Here is a post about testing and the role it plays in diagnosis . Here is an article on the newest theories on eczema/food allergy link . I'm going...

I do have a heating core, but I've found that allergen friendly cakes don't always bake well in larger sizes. This is especially true of egg free cakes since they lack key structure. If you can get it baked through, the chance of cracking or crumbling while handling it is pretty high. I've found that Wacky Cake doesn't do well in anything bigger than 9x13 - it takes so long for the center to heat up that the single acting leavening just fizzles out. Gluten/wheat free cakes are very difficult...
My son never was able to peel an orange without an allergic reaction, though he could eat it. Years later he can now peel an orange with no problems. He still can't have citrus rind in foods though. He use to react to banana peels but could eat the banana. I wonder if it had anything to do with what sprays they use in the fields. I also find that a lot of orange juice is made on shared equipment with dairy. Sending hugs your way.
Hi Sahba! Welcome to KFA!! The one that comes to my mind is the bars from Enjoy Life Foods . Click on the flavors to see the ingredients lists and decide if you think they are okay in terms of refined sugar (evaporated cane sugar) and ingredients you can't pronounce. I sort of know what you mean but my tolerance is probably different from yours. I know that a lot of granola bars and fruit bars are indeed a risk for people with tree nut and peanut allergies. If the Enjoy Life ones don't work...
Hi Adrianp! Welcome to KFA! The Daiya cheeses do contain coconut. You can view the ingredients here: http://www.daiyafoods.com/our-products/cheddar-wedge These may not be a choice for your child if you are avoiding coconut. I have heard that Daiya is the a lot better tasting than the rice cheese on the market. I encourage you to log in to the KFA Support Forums and post any questions you may have. We are here to help! http://community.kidswithfooda...rum/forum/main_forum
My daughter is allergic to milk, eggs, soy, gluten, and potatoes. Do these cookies contain potato starch? I notice a lot of gluten free products contain potato starch.
