Thanks for this info, but this is frustrating. My allergist wants to re-test (skin test) my daughter at 10 months before we begin introducing the top 8. Isn't it better to test rather than potentially have an at-home reaction to something that might have shown up on the skin test?
What I get from that is that the testing itself could be false and not worth it. however if a child is at risk, there are other safe methods to introduce those foods, like an in office challenge.
Thanks MonsterMom Yes, I guess the part that's missing is what will we do if she DOES test positive to a food? As you said, i suppose an office challenge is in the works. Going to definitely ask the allergist!

Sesame seed is non top eight allergen so it would be safest to call them directly. There are two different Synders companies One is Synders of Hanover the other is Synders of Berlin bith make pretzels so you may luck out with one if the other isn’t safe good luck
Thanks for this piece!! I'm in search of any materials that help make ending the classroom birthday treat more palatable to parents & staff that are still undereducated when it comes to the reality of children living with life threatening allergies.

I never can find this in a store. I love their Veganaise with the purple top. I so missed BLTs and chicken salad. With Veganaise, tofu and xantham gum, I can even make crab cakes like my MIL (lots of bread crumbs) but it holds together.
This was a great article! Very clear and concise descriptions and great presentation format! This emphasis on the different types I've never seen stressed before. It would be very helpful to further understanding by also knowing what is the percentage of IgE mediated vs. non-IgE mediated food allergies. I hope that additional information can be posted in a comment or follow-up blog entry. Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I used this handout at a meeting with my son's teacher this morning after a near miss due to confusion about IgE vs. non-IgE allergies. This put things simply for her, and now I feel confident that she understands and can keep my son safe at school.
They are both great! My son enjoyed the Mac n Cheese for dinner last night, first time he's ever liked a dairy free mac n cheese. I tasted it, it was fantastic. Today for lunch he asked to have sunbutter on the crackers and devoured them. We love Earth Balance products!
Hello and thanks for posting!! We found them at Whole Foods, and a local grocery store chain that has a large selection of vegan/gluten free/allergy-friendly products and regularly stocks many Earth Balance products. Earth Balance does have a store finder: http://earthbalancenatural.com/store-finder/ , but of course that doesn't tell you what stores carry what products, just that *some* Earth Balance products may be carried there. At least it could give you a place to start when calling...
