I have tried to make my own sunflower seed butter in my food processor, but even after a looong time in the processor and a fair amount of canola, I still get a "paste" so thick you can slice it! What am I doing wrong? Do I just need a better processor? We haven't retried pumpkin seeds yet - she got hives from it about a year ago when we first tried it. I'll probably wait until pumpkins start showing up in stores so I can get truly uncontaminated seeds. Thanks!
My son's allergist gave us a voucher/coupon in case our insurance did not cover it - $25.00 for the first 2. Luckily, our insurance covered it, but it is still more expensive than Epi Pens. However, the smaller size (my son is just starting to carry) and the automated instructions are worth the extra expense for us. Ask your allergist if he/she has any coupons to spare!
I have been asked to make a cake for a 2 yr old who has severe dairy, egg and soy alergy, this is the first recipe I have come across, is it for defiantly free from all three? if so what flour do you use, and is the vinegar normal brown or is it white?

Hi kally, My son has a very severe milk allergy and we eat at Chipotle 1-2 times per week. I can totally understand your apprehension. Here are some tips: One person handles your food. They will change their gloves first - sometimes you have to remind them but it's coorporate policy AFAIK. I always ask them to hold my son's tray - do not slide it on the counter. We only get rice, beans, and meat from the bar. Any salsa, lettuce or guac comes from the fridge under the bar or the back.

Mexican and Italian restaurants skeeved me out too, until we discovered that one of our local Italian restaurants had safe bread for DS (flour, yeast, olive oil, sugar, and water). It was the first restaurant that puts bread on the table that was safe for him. He's also very happy with a plate of pasta with olive oil and herbs, and he has been spoiled rotten there. Mexican restaurants where I live often have language barrier issues, so I never trusted them with FA, though I enjoyed the food...

I'm shocked, but not surprised as I know several people who don't carry the epi pens with them for their kids. I don't understand what good the epi will do if its at home and you are out. This is by far not the first case of a person (toddler) have an anaphylactic reaction to oranges (or citrus). My child developed a severe allergic reaction to oranges (and other citrus) after previously not reacting to citrus and has since outgrown it. I also know several other families with ongoing citrus allergies. It think the prevalence of this is much higher than the author is aware of or the study concluded.
We found shredded Diaya in chedder and LOVE it! It's not as good if it's not melted, but it tasted great on pizza and macaroni and cheese! I teared up when my three year old had his first taste of macaroni and "cheese". It melts great.

I have the app on iPhone, but I think it is the same for iPad. Using our iOS app, you click CLIPS. Then select the Clip Set (My First Day of School). At the top right is a + sign. Click that to add your photo. At that poi nt, you can either Take a Photo or Browse Your Photos. I clicked Browse. It opened up my camera roll and then I selected the photo I wanted to add. Now for those using mobile access (e.g. using your phone's browser), you will need to log in first before you can add a clip.
Hi Tricia, Welcome. I can see why you are so concerned. My first thought is to call the company and inquire about their product and manufacturing practices. It could be that the product was made on equipment shared with other products containing peanuts, but you will not know unless you ask. Shared equipment issues and advisory labeling do not have to be stated on the label - it's not a requirement of the current labeling laws in the U.S. Since you are new to Kids With Food Allergies...
