I would use a can of white beans instead of the chickpeas just to be on the safe side. After reading and articule at www.allergicliving.com where its said is probably ok, I asked my son's allergy Dr. and she told me to avoided along with lentils.

It is always a good idea to follow your doctor's advice about avoiding cross reactions. Here's KFA's resource on cross-reactions .

It sounds like this Teal pumpking theme started in 2016. A great idea!! I wonder though, how the color Teal was chosen?? Can anyone tell me?? Thanks!! Terri

@FineSilver.99 - The first Teal Pumpkin was done in 2012. This is the story of how the Teal Pumpkin movement started . Teal was chosen because it is the color of food allergy awareness.

Thank-you Kathy P. for your reply on why Teal color pumpkins. But, still, why the color Teal? It is a very pretty color. I thought perhaps it might have been chosen because one can turn blue when passing out.

This is great. I get a few hundred kids every Halloween, my neighborhood is a madhouse! I will definitely be participating in Teal-O-Ween this year. Thanks for these ideas for non-food items to handout and accompanying resources so more kids can feel included in Trick or Treating.

Thank you so much for including latex in your flyer! I hope you don’t mind if I tell you that rubber balls and stress balls can often be made of latex too (koosh balls are 100% latex) so they should have an asterisk too. Thanks so much for spreading awareness for such a nasty allergen (we have that and 6 of the top eight as well as some latex related fruits). We officially moved into the country but our home town has a spooktacular festival the week before Halloween. I would really like to bring this tradition to my community. I think I am going to put a letter to the community in our local paper about the teal pumpkin project and then see if I can get donations for local businesses to do teal pumpkins during the festival so that people will also see it there and raise some awareness before Halloween. I am pretty late in doing this. hopefully it...
