All students who wore teal were allowed out of dress code for the day at school. The week was also filled with facts about food allergies during morning announcements.

Wow. What a nice thing to do!! They're all beautiful. I thought mine was nice. I made mine for this year. I couldn't find any here in Florida to buy & people looked at me like I was crazy when I'd inquire about them!! I was gonna just order one from Oriental Trading, but ended up buying a white pumpkin & teal paint & glitter & some teal crystal flat backs. It turned out really pretty. Yours look really cool displayed together like that!!

We do have an awesome school nurse and an amazingly receptive school administration for our allergic students. They have embraced all of requests and worked to understand the reasons we make each one. Today, with a smile in my heart, I am thrilled to say, all the front office, Principal & VP made a point to show me they were not only wearing the allergy action ribons we gave them, but they were all in Teal! Head to toe! Next year they gave agreed to charter our first Food Allergy Action...

Thanks Jen! We manage anaphylaxis to peanuts and several tree nuts (cashew, pistachios, almonds) and he is allergic to dairy and egg, but can do both of those in baked goods, and hope to at some point move to a pizza challenge. Halloween is really stressful. Teal Pumpkin hasn't quite taken it's hold in Nashville yet, at least not in my neighborhood, so hoping to help raise awareness.

I was surprised at how many kiddos opted for the non-edible treats. Biggest hit..glow in the dark vampire teeth! Super cheap, too!

Yes there is a way to show that. It is known as the Teal pumpkin project. You put a Teal pumpkin on your porch, or front of your house along with one of the signs letting those know that you have safe non food or allergy safe items . That is what the Teal pumpkins represent.

Wow Georgina5.... Did you HONESTLY think I didn't read the article? I wasn't asking about MY PORCH... I was asking if there was a way to "mark" your kids so other parents at the HOUSES know your kids are TEAL. It really isn't that difficult to read the response before answering incorrectly. Especially with kids 5+ you aren't necessarily on the porch with them making sure they take something they can have, and kids are kids and can have that out of their bucket on their way down the stairs...

There are so many ways to show your zeal for teal that I'm sure as this awareness initiative grows in the years ahead there will be so many imaginative ways to display teal, both on kids and on houses! Maybe kids could carry teal-colored glowsticks (the kind that snap to light and last for a few hours) - which could also double for safety once it gets a little dark out. You could also carry teal-colored treat bags, or paint a plastic orange pumpkin teal to carry. The teal glowsticks, if they...
