We have tried the chocolate covered cookie dough that Better Bites makes and it tastes just like cookie dough! It is cookie dough with choc. chips in it and covered with chocolate.Very Yummy! Pricey but a nice treat that is yummy and allergen friendly (check label for ingredients, allergens and if safe you you). I haven't seen the birthday do bites ones yet. They do make a brownie with choc. chips on top and a brownie bite covered with chocolate which are decadently delicious too!
Today I discovered Subway now offers sesame ginger kitchen. This is a major blow for those of us who depend on Subway to provide peanut, tree nut, and sesame free food. Is there anything you can do? Thank you Amy Kay
Be careful with King Arthur products. I purchased their brownies and sent an email to ask about treenuts/peanuts in their mixes. Please see their response below RESPONSE Thanks for contacting us here at King Arthur Flour. King Arthur Flour’s certified gluten-free blends and mixes don’t have any of the U.S. top 8 allergens added to them as ingredients; however, they can share production equipment with eggs, dairy, soy, coconut, and almonds. We employ robust allergen-control measures in order...
This is really great. I was watching Bloomberg and they were interviewing the Nestle president. He was speaking about being dedicated to cleaner food and overall improving their product for all people. I am impressed. I saw this interview maybe 3 months ago and to already see products on the self is a good sign. Thanks for sharing
El Moe, thanks for sharing! You've reminded all of us parents how important it is to check with the manufacturer and compare their cleaning practices and labeling policies with our doctor's advice and our comfort zones. Another tip a friend has shared with me: periodically check with companies that I may have avoided in the past, because due to letters just like yours, they may change their policies!
As a fellow mom who has helped her daughter manage a corn allergy, I hear ya! Keep on the lookout as more products are added, and hopefully there WILL be some that will work with your allergy set. And please feel free to start a new topic on our community forums -- I have found great support in managing a corn allergy on our forums, and hopefully you will, too!
Hurley, We have started a new database for "Allergy-Friendly Foods" and the notifications don't have a "message" in them like blogs or post notifications. You need to check the database in order to see what has been added. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Hello DearsMany thanks!! it will be a good product but not for my son who is allergic to coconut too. After my experience with fooď allergies and taking care of my son I discovered that many kids who are allergic to tree nuts have the risk to be allergic to coconut too knowing that coconut do not bellow to tree nut but to palm, the same as kids who are alergic to dairy have the risk to be alergic to soya milk too. I liked to share my opinion for new parents who suffer from food allergies.
Hi Olaf - there are a lot of coconut based products. Do you find it difficult to avoid coconut when looking for new foods to try? We'd love to have your share your opinions and experiences with other parents. Have you read through KFA's forums lately?
Yum! I spotted a can of the coconut whipping cream a while back and picked it up. I had no plans for it, but I had stashed it in the fridge. We had a ton of blueberries so I decided to make Frozen Berry Mousse . The texture was a little more icy than when I've made it with the tub coconut whipped topping, but still delish! A great option with minimal ingredients!
Hello there .Yes the ciconut everywhere in new product make my life more difficult to avoid it same as I avoid tree nuts, and dairy products to my sin. And the dander of all, some milk formula for babies who are diagnosted of food allergies like animals milk they give them substitute that contain coconut ...... the danger of coconut is very serious even when kids are not diagnosted with all type of food allergies. Thank you againBest regards | |
I'm sure this snack will be beneficial to many kids. However, some years ago, our allergy doctor informed us that sometimes kids with Soy or Peanut allergy develop allergies to other legumes. If your child has Soy or Peanut allergy and hasn't eaten Chickpeas much, please be sure to check about the Chickpeas Our child has both serious soy and peanut allergies and sure enough quickly became allergic to both chickpeas and lentils within a year of the initial diagnosis.
GREAT FIND we however like many families have a peanut anaph. allergy and peanuts are a legume just like peas, lentils, beans and chickpeas. Hopefully anyone trying already is cleared from being allergic to chickpeas.
Could you check the company website's store locator ? Some products on our FAllergy Friendly Food are showcased at Expo West and will be available later in the year, while others are available now, but they may not be available nationwide at first.
Good points to remind folks about cross-reactivity! Cross-reactivity occurs when the proteins in one food are similar to the proteins in another. When that happens, the body's immune system sees them as the same. While many people don't experience problems with cross-reactivity, it's always a good idea to check with your doctor about a new food that is similar to one of the allergens you manage.
