Dear Friends,
At the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and our Kids With Food Allergies division, we work with families every day who struggle with the pressure of managing food allergies. They live with constant fear and worry, wondering if their child will have a serious allergic reaction. We understand the life-altering effect food allergies can have on an entire family’s livelihood.
Providing help to families is what motivates us. Food allergies are increasing. And while there is promising food allergy research on the horizon, there are still no FDA-approved treatments for food allergies. Avoidance is all we have, and it’s not enough. Inadequate food labeling, lacking food safety guidelines for restaurants, shortages and the expense of life-saving epinephrine auto-injectors continue to be challenges.
Many people don’t understand the overwhelming burden food allergies can have on a family. AAFA’s My Life With Food Allergy study found 75% of parents said food allergies give them fear and anxiety and 59% felt they could never let their guard down.
So we fight, we support and we advocate for families with children with food allergies.
Will you help us fulfill our mission to improve the lives of families raising children with food allergies? All we ask is for a simple gift.
Your gift is powerful. Your donation funds our free education programs, a database of allergy-friendly recipes, research, advocacy and community outreach that families managing food allergies need to keep their children safe. We broadcast regular alerts on food recalls, new clinical trials for promising drugs, and resources to navigate the complicated health insurance maze. Support from you enables us to expand our work so we can do more to save lives and reduce the burden of food allergies to improve the quality of life for families.
As we close 2019, we ask you to be a part of our mission in 2020. You are a vital part of the work we do. You not only help us change lives – you help us save lives.
We are grateful for your support.
Warmly,
Kenneth Mendez
