We are also pleased to announce that Representative Thomas Murt will be joining Kids With Food Allergies Foundation to accept a certificate of appreciation for his past and current legislative efforts to protect children with food allergies in schools.  Rep. Murt is a current co-signer of PA House Bill 2067, “School Access to Emergency Epinephrine.”

In addition, we have added a “Keep All Students with Allergies Safe” advocacy station at our event where you can find out more information on the status of state and federal legislative efforts for passing laws to keep undesignated epinephrine on hand at every school that can be used in an emergency.  This is such an important issue for all children with allergies.

We will also have posters for children to sign in support of state and federal legislative efforts we will forward to key state and federal legislators.

We encourage (but do not require!) your children to make and bring signs to carry during our Mall Walk in support of these bills, here are some suggested wordings, or you can use your own:

“Keep Students With Allergies Safe”

“Support PA House Bill 2067  (Pennsylvania)”

“Support NJ  Bills A2734 and S2109”

“Support School Access to Emergency Epinephrine Act S.1884”

Currently, schools are prohibited from administering injectable epinephrine unless the student has a prescription on file at school.  This type of legislation is designed to offer a way to provide life-saving treatment to any student who suffers anaphylaxis at school, including those with no prior history of allergic reactions.  These bills, if passed, will save lives!  Please join us on Sunday to voice your support and to find out more. Registration is free.
