Join Our More Than Food Allergies Photo Contest
Nearly 6 million children and more than 26 million adults in the U.S. have food allergies.
May 12-18, 2019 is Food Allergy Awareness Week. This year, our focus is on raising awareness about how food allergies are more than just a physical condition and they impact every aspect of life. But it doesn't have to define your child.
Most of the time, Dana Kagan can be found doing things most 13-year-olds like to do – playing softball, acting in school plays, staying up late to finish homework and hanging out with friends. She also manages food allergies to eggs, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, bananas, kiwi, avocados and carrots.
Dana has had several severe allergic reactions where she had to use her epinephrine auto-injectors and go to the emergency room. The experiences have been stressful. But Dana decided to use her experiences to help others.
To teach other children about food allergies, she developed a food allergy game. She shares her knowledge with students across her school district. To date, she has taught 1,500 students about food allergies. She also trains people on how to use epinephrine auto-injectors and raises money for food allergy awareness.
Together, we can work to overcome the challenges and burdens of food allergies – in ways both big and small.

To enter the photo contest:
- Take a picture showing how your child is more than food allergies. Show how your child overcomes obstacles that managing food allergies puts in their way.
- Upload your image to KFA’s online food allergy community. You must be registered to upload your image. All photos shared can be seen by the public. Only registered members can upload photos, add comments or view members' profiles or signatures.
- Include a description with your photo. Tell us how your child overcomes the challenges of managing food allergies.
- Images will be added to our photo mosaic.
Visit our photo mosaic on morethanfoodallergies.org to see your photo along with others who live beyond food allergies every day. Winners will be announced on the photo stream and on our blog.
Winners will receive a "healthier home" package of CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® products and food allergy awareness items (approximate retail value is $267.75). Members outside of the United States may share their photos but are not eligible to win. Up to three (3) entries are permitted; however, there is a limit of one prize per person.
