Rego Park, N.Y - Golden Star International Inc. is recalling its 10-oz. packages of "Walnut Ladies Finger Cookies" food treats because they may contain undeclared Eggs and Soybean oil/lecithin. People who have allergies to these allergens run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled cookies were distributed through retail National Wholesale Liquidator stores in N.Y and N.J.
The product comes in a 10-oz., clear plastic package marked with UPC # 6 4474469876 7, with an expiration date of 11/14/16 stamped on the side.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated during a routine U.S. Food and Drug Administration inspection after it was discovered that the product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of the allergens. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a printing error.
Production of the product has been suspended until FDA and our company are certain that the problem has been corrected.
