At What Temperature Are Tree Nut Allergens Destroyed?
Tree nut allergens are heat-stable proteins. This means they do not break down when cooked at high temperatures. There is no specific temperature that can completely destroy these allergens. This can leave some of the allergens intact.
Even high-heat cooking does not reliably or safely get rid of the risk of an allergic reaction for someone with a tree nut allergy who eats a tree nut they are allergic to.
