The dal was red lentils cooked w/ green chilis in veggie stock. While that cooked, I browned a minced onion slowly in oil. Then added garlic, ginger, and crushed tomato. Stir that into the cooked lentils along with some ground cumin. Add a squeeze of lemon to taste.

I added a little turmeric to my basic dosa batter. So yummy and spongy to soak up the dal!
