Same idea as doing a "zebra" cake with chocolate and vanilla batters. For these rainbow cupcakes we split the batter into 6 bowls and colored them with gel colors. Each color is 1/2 Tablespoon of batter poured right on top of each other. You need to be a little careful but not super careful - that's a 5 year old in the pic helping make rainbow cupcakes.
