Re: The Perfect Allergy-Friendly Cake and Raspberry Compote Recipe (with Video)

Kathy P ·
The title of the recipe is more referring to the taste and texture. Everyone has to make their own determination if something is "healthy" by their own definition. We don't make that judgement call here. If someone feels that processed sugar, no matter what the form, is unhealthy, then they should look for a different recipe. If they feel it is fine in moderation, then this recipe might work for them.

Re: Khalil jumping from the playground equipment

We are so excited to be picked!! This is his first year back in district since 2nd grade so this is all a little overwhelming and definitely different then the private placements. I found out right before school started that the school must provide food for him that is allergy safe!!! So, I filled out the form; called his case manager and we made a visit to the school to give her the medically signed paperwork. So far, everything is going great. Becuase I gave them an entire page of...

Re: Food Allergy Test: What Does It Mean?

KFA Medical Advisors ·
I'd like to thank everyone for posting such wonderful comments. I'd like to address two topics that were mentioned so far: 1. Eczema and food allergies can be a very difficult and complicated topic, which may need it's own blog post in the future. While I can't give out specific medical advice in this forum, I am happy to help elaborate a bit more. In general , the majority of children with eczema do not have an external cause of their skin condition. Eczema is a genetic, chronic, skin...

Re: Egg Allergy Is No Longer a Contraindication for the Flu Vaccine

Kids With Food Allergies ·
Belgiumite - the flu mist contains live virus; it's a different type of vaccine. The studies the updated recommendations were made on were based on the injectable form of the vaccine. dvk - as a consumer, you make the decisions for your child. However, these guidelines are what the CDC have adopted based on the clinical evidence. Other parents will want this information to initiate a conversation about the flu vaccine with their child's allergist, and that is why we've provided it.

Re: New Epinephrine Study Shows Alarming Results

rose12328 ·
@ Wendy Mains-- I think I know why your child had to use his epi pen so many times in the ER/hospital. Hospitals are FILLED with corn-derived products. I am also corn-allergic. I found out the hard way, after a lifetime (I'm in my 50s!) of migraines, joint pains, spontaneous vomiting seemingly without a cause, I ended up at the big famous institution in Minnesota. The immunologist looked at the results of a basic saliva genetic test that I had purchased and had processed. He said I should...

I have not found that form but I will do that now. Thank you for the info. The highest allergy is the egg, peanut, garlic then next in line is the potato, soy bean, and tree nuts. All the rest are a lower allergy but the dr said only have about 4 servings a week of those. (Wheat, gluten, barley, corn). Since there not good for any of us. The weird thing is he doest have a reaction to the lower ones when he eats them but I guess they can build up over time and then cause a reaction? Have you...

Re: Super Sun-Dried Tomatoes! 3 Allergy-Friendly Recipes

Monster Mom ·
I have ones that are just dried tomatoes "Bella Sun Luc"i- Nut free sun dried tomatoes were really hard to find, no matter the form. I found that one brand, but never called to confirm if they are around nuts. there are no warnings on the package, and as it turns out, my child ended up being allergic to the tomatoes. I assume the dried one not in oil may need some oil added in to compensate, or be heated with water, I can't remember if the dried ones are dehydrated or slightly plump. HTH
