The book was donated to us by our Allergist/medical director. They weren't put into print for sale - just offered through the Dr. offices as a promotional thing. I'd love to have them all the time for use! I may look into Amazon myself to find them and buy them for when we have contests/etc for our group to give away....used or not! Or start a trading library within our group. My son and I have decided that he should do a cooking channel on Youtube for kids with food allergies -something...
Thanks to all of you who provided their input and shared own experiences. We have a TREMENDOUS family and spend a lot of time with certain groups (similar kids ages). I know that not everyone will understand the safety aspect, be considerate, or even care so I started this process as a teaching/learning opportunity. I gave family members simple but informative handouts from KFA, FAAN, etc. I provided the signs/dangers of possible reactions, explained the blood and skin tests my daughter had...

I will be watching this like a hawk...My son has had the peanut allergy all his life along with non verbal autism...getting rid of this allergy is hugely important to me due to him someday living in a group home type setting and not having to worry about the staff feeding him the wrong thing and killing him....the autism I can handle...its not going to kill him, but the peanuts will.
Yes you can! I'm part of a vegan meringue Facebook group--it's called Vegan Meringue Hits and Misses--and many people have posted successful royal icing recipes. Please try and share!
Shoot, I missed signing up. Is there still a way to find out about recorded webinars? I run a FB group for mom's who have kids with food allergies and I alway love to share the KWFA resources in our group.
Ok, I'm probably going crazy but these seem wrong too! LEAP-On enrolled 88.5% of children from the original trial (556 children). Adherence to peanut avoidance in both groups was high during the 12 months families were told to stay away from peanuts: - 4% in the original peanut avoidance group, and - 3% in the peanut-eating group On Fri, Mar 4, 2016 at 3:29 PM, Kids With Food Allergies < support@aafa.org > wrote:
EDIT: We fixed a coding error above to correct this section: Adherence to peanut avoidance in both groups was high during the 12 months families were told to stay away from peanuts: 90.4% in the original peanut avoidance group, and 69.3% in the peanut-eating group
Thank you, KFA!!! My kid doesn't just survive food allergies -- she THRIVES, and I owe it ALL to the wonderful resources offered by Kids With Food Allergies!
Thanks for sharing your story Cynthia! Your strength and ability to search for answers makes you a supermom as well as a great resource to KFA and its constituents !! With respect to food allergies, knowledge is power, but also it can be life saving. Kate must be proud to have you as you are to have her! Awesome .
Kate is SUPER grateful for KFA ... it means that she gets to live a "normal" life without me freaking out all the time. I can't tell you the times that I've raced to the Kids With Food Allergies' online support community to ask a question: "Okay, this happened, so what do I do NOW?" I've never felt alone in this battle since that first post to KFA.
My kiddo is in this school district and having interacted with these schools I'm guessing the problem is more complex than the article has let on. The following is my speculation as a parent. The reason given in the article "The Weatherford Independent School District says they feel that they can’t have someone trained to give an epinephrine auto-injector during all times the school is open." Isn't just regarding the inconvenience of training - all the teachers and admins go through the...
Hi, is there a typo in this summary? I may just be tired, but I don't see how this reflects a risk reduction (at all, let alone 67%): Thanks, Naomi However, when the authors evaluated the infants that were able to maintain the study protocol by eating these foods consistently each week, they did find a significant difference in rates of food allergy: - 4% in the early introduction group versus - 3% in the standard group On Fri, Mar 4, 2016 at 3:39 PM, Kids With Food Allergies <...
