At only 8 years old, Anthony is on the cutting edge of science. He is in a clinical trial for food allergy research and shares his story to help Kids With Food Allergies (KFA).

Anthony has multiple food allergies. He’s allergic to barley, wheat, eggs, tree nuts, and peanuts. By the time he reached age 4, he had been hospitalized three times because of allergic reactions.

“Trying to imagine a ‘normal life’ for him through these challenges was difficult,” his mom, Kelli, said. “There were suddenly so many obstacles to our daily routines that many people don’t have to think about and take for granted.”

KFA came along at a crucial point in Anthony’s journey with food allergies. The organization’s resources helped his family better understand and manage his food allergies. KFA provides a support system that brings families coping with food allergies together to share their respective challenges and solutions. As a parent, sometimes it’s just nice to know you’re not alone.

Today, Anthony is enrolled in a clinical trial. He is excited to help scientists and researchers discover new treatments for people with food allergies.

I’m committing my time and body to advance science in order to help others!

Not only that, but Anthony just donated his birthday to KFA. With the help of more than 60 generous supporters, he exceeded his $5,000 goal in a week. So far, he has raised more than $7,800. Despite all Anthony has done in 2020 to help those managing food allergies, he has one final target in mind. He has set a new goal of $20,000.

Will you help Anthony reach his new goal of $20,000 by the end of the year? Whether you donate $5 or $500, every little bit helps.

I want other families to have the education and support they need, and KFA does just that. Thank you for helping me raise money so we can help others like me!

Kelli expressed great pride in Anthony’s selflessness.

“Anthony underwent many food challenges over the past several weeks,” said Kelli. “Even though he reacted three times, it’s not deterring him from his fundraising efforts and motivation to help other kids. He is my hero!”

KFA is grateful for the opportunity to share Anthony’s story as an example of bravery and kindness we all should strive to follow. With one in 13 children living with food allergies, we’re proud to serve as a vital lifeline to families raising children with food allergies.

We hope you consider KFA in your end-of-year giving.

Please donate to support KFA’s mission to create real and lasting change.

KFA, a division of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), is dedicated to saving lives and reducing the burden of food allergies through support, advocacy, education, and research. Your gift allows us to continue to offer life-saving information, provide emotional support, advocate for federal and state policies that protect people with food allergies, and advance patient-centered research. Your donation, no matter how small, makes a difference.
