I hope you are one of the fortunate Americans who can read English well. I'm writing to you today to ask you to help those parents who cannot.
You know food allergies are complicated. But what if a parent doesn't speak English, doesn't have computer access or doesn't have good reading skills? That parent may not understand how to best care for their child. Learning how to manage food allergies saves lives.
You can help us reach underserved, at-risk families dealing with food allergies.
Please donate to ACCESS KFA- Kids With Food Allergies Foundation's new life-saving program to help families who may not know that our resources exist or may have trouble accessing them.
I'd like to share an important health care statistic with you. Do you know that only 12 percent of adults have proficient health literacy, according to the National Assessment of Adult Literacy? Health literacy is the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions.
In other words, nearly 9 out of 10 adults may lack the skills needed to manage their own health and their children's health. This is a humbling reality.
With the generous support of our donors, we reach thousands of families each month. Today, I am asking you for a donation that will help us reach even more families and give them exactly what they need.
These are the initiatives you can help us undertake:
- Resource materials written in plain language with illustrations so parents with limited reading skills can better understand them.
- Materials in Spanish.
- An expanded webinar series on a variety of useful topics to all families. Non-written materials are a great way to educate parents of all reading levels.
You too can be part of the ACCESS KFA project. Together we can save lives every day. Please consider making a donation of $25 or $50 or any amount you can. Help us reach out to parents who desperately need us right now. No donation is too small to make a difference!
Kind Regards,
Lynda Mitchell
President
P.S. Your support ensures that we can begin ACCESS KFA to reach more families who may not know about our resources or may have trouble accessing them. Please give generously!
A gift of any size supports the lifesaving mission of the Kids With Food Allergies Foundation to improve the day-to-day lives of families raising children with food allergies and empower them to create a safe and healthy future for their children.
