[From The Hershey Company]
The Hershey Company wants peanut-allergic consumers to be aware of a new product launch: a Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bar with Reese’s Pieces candy. The bar will be marketed in both a standard size and a king size version and will be on store shelves in December of 2018. The product label (image provided below) clearly calls out the presence of Reese’s Pieces on the front, includes a large swath of the familiar Reese’s orange color on both the front and back, and, of course, lists peanuts in the ingredient statement. Peanuts are present both in the Reese’s Pieces and separately as chopped peanuts, which are visible in the bar itself once the packaging is opened/removed.
The Hershey Company wants consumers managing a peanut allergy to know that this product is produced in a separate facility from the 1.55 standard size Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar, which does not contain peanut or tree nut ingredients, is produced on a line that does not manufacture any peanut or tree nut items, and is made in a facility that does not process peanuts.
The snack, king, XL, and giant sizes of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar continue to carry the following Allergy Information Statement: “ALLERGY INFORMATION: MANUFACTURED ON THE SAME EQUIPMENT THAT PROCESSES ALMONDS.”
Because ingredients or manufacturing processes can change, we always recommend that consumers read the label prior to purchasing or consuming any of our products.
