Many of our members in the Northeast have been affected by the recent superstorm and our hearts go out to them, wishing them warmth and safety in the weeks ahead. Superstorm Sandy, as other natural disasters in recent years, has again identified the critical requirement to have emergency response in disaster situations address the needs of those on allergen-restricted diets and other special medical diets.
We will be doing two things to assist in this effort:
1. We will use this blog and our online community to post updates regarding how you can help, and where those in need can go to obtain allergy-friendly foods.
2. In addition, we will work in the weeks and months ahead to identify stakeholders and begin planning efforts so emergency response will be better prepared to respond to those in need when a disaster strikes in the future. If you would like to be part of this planning effort, please contact us.
Warm regards,
