I know this post is old, but I figured I should add to it since this thread is what I found when searching for this on KFA. I called EB today and they told me the vegan cheddar squares are processed on the same line as products containing soy and milk. I cannot remember what they said about egg since I wrote them off at soy and milk...no peanuts on the line or in the facility. no tree nuts on the line but there are in same facility. Hope this helps someone! Obviously call and confirm...

I did not ask, but good point. We do trust other brands who have good allergy protocol with cleaning/testing...but those brands are better about having info on packages and websites. The woman I spoke to basically said if you are allergic to those things I wouldn't recommend using the product. but sometimes the right questions make all the difference...maybe I will call back.

I am so excited to find this! My son is going to be celebrating a Passover feast with his 1st grade class at his Christian school (they have been studying Egyptian history and the Exodus this year). The feast traditionally includes most of the things he is allergic to (eggs, tree nuts and wheat). It is great to have a resource to help me navigate this event.

Thank you so much for this. It is rare to find this sort of resource representing so well the broad range of Jewish observance of Passover, and the fact that this does it tremendously helpful and appreciated!

I'm Orthodox and although these ideas are great for some, I've dealt with allergies for Passover for 9 years. Yes, there are ways around everything, but some of these ideas are a bit unconventional. Please, please take these ideas with a grain of salt and speak to a rabbi. If anyone were to need ideas, you're more than welcome to contact me via private message.

another issue that kept me awake last week. During the "purge" week, people in the West Coast "should" purge ALL their emergency food .. which makes the family ultra vulnerable in care of an earthquake, until new food has been purchased. How do people do to reduce this crack in the plan? ((I don't care, my emergency food is in the basement, and only rats chew marks and poops would make me destroy ANY of that safe food))

Samismama, I do not, but they are a very allergy-aware company, so I encourage you to call and ask or check their website for details about sesame. Keep in mind that they are also at ExpoWest this weekend, not in the office, so they likely won't have anyone available to answer your questions until they return sometime next week.

The price of these are expensive compared to other pastas, but since they have so much more protein and fiber, maybe it would be a good idea to mix these with your current gluten-free pasta to boost the nutrition of your meal. (If you can't afford to use these solely.)

India Tree Natural Food Colors India Tree offers plant-based food coloring with no synthetic dyes or corn syrup. They are manufactured in a facility that is free of tree nuts and peanuts and do not use gluten. This is awesome.... One area I see a market for you is seeds.... They are a great alternative to nuts, but it is very difficult to find them not processed the same facility as peanuts and treenuts. So far all we can find reliably is sunflower seeds.

HI, My son, who has a peanut allergy, will start kindergarten in a few weeks. At his school peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are served everyday in the cafeteria. The school offers 3 choices to each child and PB&J is one of the choices. I am so worried and scared about sending him to school. I have spoken with the nutrition department for the school district and the only thing she said the school could do is have my son sit at a table all by himself. That does not solve the problem...

I'm sorry you are feeling so stressed over starting Kinder. Have you requested a 504 evaluation?? The last link in #5 above has lots of resources on that process. That is your best way to get accommodations for your kiddo. In that type of plan is where you can specify things like handwashing after snack/lunch, a peanut free table/zone in the cafeteria, etc. Have you discussed w/ the doc what he thinks are reasonable/necessary accommodations??

Thank you for making it easy for us to "write" to Sony Pictures. How does this stupid scene make it through the creative/editing processes at Sony?! Don't they test movies with a test audience? The biggest issue I have with this scene is that it's the "hero" (i.e., the one the kids are rooting for to "win") that comes up with the sadistic idea. Other movies have accidental food allergy scenes which are much more acceptable. But to have the hero purposely try to remove the human via an...

The title is misleading. It's not just almond milk. Any milk would do the same thing. Cow's milk contains 4 - 6% of an adults Vitamin C needs (some labels even say 0%). That means an 8 oz glass only has 5.4 mg. For a baby under 6 months they would need to drink 7.5 bottles of milk to get the Vit C needed. For a baby over 6 months it would be 9.3 bottles a day. Of course, they would be getting food as well. Point being made is that formula has the vitamins supplemented. If not using breast...

No, I can't insurance because this is the insurance through my husbands work. There is no way I'm going to be able to do a food challenge at home. I'm way too frightened of what could happen but what else is one to do when you know that at some point you have to know?! Talked with doctor today (left message) and asked if there is a way around it. They wouldn't even pay for the skin or blood allergy test. It's crazy! Our insurance is amazing and we've had 14 years. Never had to use the...

I'm hoping to hear something back! Praying they can come up with something different that my insurance will pay for. I can go to an allergist and pay my co-pay but when they want to start the testing, that's where my insurance stops! It ridiculous and I'm so upset about this. I know doctors can around it, some will and some won't. Hopefully I have one that will and can! Thank you all for your support! I don't have family or friends so it's difficult to deal with all by yourself.

Hi Paula, hopefully you find an allergist that you like and trust. Be upfront with the Doctor about the insurance issues and your concerns. Some allergists - not all - will allow patients to come and sit in the waiting room while the food is ingested. I hope you find one that you can work with. The other thing is, the allergy tests run about $1,500 depending on how many foods you're running. You may find that the cost is worth it?

High-risk infants begin eating peanut-containing food as early as 4-6 months. Infants are considered at risk if they have severe eczema, egg allergy or both. A qualified healthcare provider should perform testing first to see if an allergy already exists. I agree wholeheartedly re: the allergy testing. We had to wait until our child was 1 years old and found out through reactions when we tried our child on new foods. As a new parent, it was a terrifying experience to go through without the...
