Blog Post CommentThis is awesome.... One area I see a market for you is seeds.... They are a great alternative to nuts, but it is very difficult to find them not processed the same facility as peanuts and treenuts. So far all we can find reliably is sunflower seeds.
-
Blog Post CommentGood point - it is difficult to source seeds that are not cross contaminated w/ other things.
-
Blog Post CommentI'll have to look into this! The chocolate one might be a cool find, if it's tasty!
-
Blog Post CommentLet us know how it tastes if you find it!
-
Blog Post CommentThe company reached out to me to try it and sent me some free samples (4 container & baking sticks) yesterday. I'm excited to give it a try over the next few weeks. I noticed many of my local stores starting to carry it.
-
Blog Post CommentMelt has annato which is a legume so it can still be a problem for kids that have issues with soy or pea protein.
-
Blog Post CommentThanks for the heads up, MischaMarie! Do you manage a soy or legume allergy?
-
Blog Post CommentHi MischaMarie! Annatto is a food color from a plant, as far as I know and understand. Have you explored the rest of our KFA resources to help you manage food allergies - we have a lot of great info!

Blog Post CommentThe Just Mayo label warns “May contain soy.” In my experience, this means that there is soy hidden in there somewhere. As in the Helman’s Canola Mayo which actually does have soy in it which is included under “natural flavors” on the label, it may be hidden under the “fruit and vegetable juice” in the label. So the search for Soy Free Mayo continues. Soy is in everything. When I was a child, no one ever heard of soy except in sauce or tofu in a Chinese restaurant. It is in everything for 2...
-
Blog Post CommentHi, Carla, and hugs on the frustration. Way to go on carefully reading the label! You may be on mobile and can't see the original date of this blog -- but it was in 2015. Just Mayo reformulated later on to add soy. I believe there is a soy-free mayo by Vegenaise . I'm not sure of the facility info, but no soy ingredients are listed in the soy-free variety. Look for the light green lid. I'm not sure of the rest of your allergy "avoids," so it may or may not be safe for your family. As always,...

Blog Post CommentIf you are corn-free then you should NOT eat xanthan Gum. Out of all the patients I know with reactions or allergies to corn they all react to xanthan. A better choice for the corn-allergy population is guar gum. Also, for the very sensitive all of the ingredients needed to have been sourced carefully to avoid corn cross contamination during harvest and processing. When I saw this product on the shelf I was very disappointed to see xanthan. I know a few companies who claim their xanthan is...
-
Blog Post CommentThanks for sharing that. I've found it to be very individualized on corn issue. Neither of my kids ever had issues w/ xanthan. It's important to know how to I know sometimes xanthan cause issues not related to corn for people. Not all xanthan is cultured on corn. I know Bob's Red Mill brand is on wheat. Some have issues w/ guar gum as well since it's a legume and can cause GI issues in some.
-
Blog Post CommentThere are definitely different sensitivity levels to corn products. I know we cannot use Bob's of any type because when we contacted them they even said there is a risk of cross contamination to corn because of their procedures. Guar gum definitely is an issue for some with legume but isnt derived from corn. There does seem to be a part of the population that both reacts to wheat and corn, but I know on the various corn allergy support groups it is strong recommended to avoid all xanthan gum...
-
Blog Post CommentIt is really hard when you are exquisitely sensitive and have multiple avoids.
-
Blog Post CommentAwesome find! Thanks for sharing.
-
Blog Post CommentPicked up a box at Wegmans, but haven't been able to try it yet.
-
Blog Post Comment❤️FYI, I've seen $2 off coupons floating around online ads...
-
Blog Post CommentThe find a store for Just Mayo packets says they're available at my local walmart. Color me shocked I won't have to make a special trip
-
Blog Post Comment❤️do the just mayo packets require refrigeration? If not, this could be a very handy thing to be able to carry. I can see many uses. - tuna salad on the go -honey mustard dipping sauce. - packets of honey and mustard needed too. -just having mayo on a sandwich... yum!
-
Blog Post CommentThat's a good question - has anyone tried them? Are they in the refrig section or on the shelf?
-
Blog Post Comment❤️DS and I went to our walmart to look for them. We found Just Mayo - but only in the regular packaging, not the little travel packets. It was on the bottom shelf with the other mayos. Shelf stable until opened. The price is about 1/2 of Vegenaise so we bought one. DS likes it. DH and I have not tried it yet. I'm very excited for an egg free mayo I can purchase locally (nearest whole foods is 45min away) AND is half the cost. So we'll be keeping an eye out for the travel packets. I'll also be...
-
Blog Post CommentDh says he likes it better than vegenaise. I think it's more savory tasting - vegenaise is more sweet. I also discovered this is the company that appeared on an episode of Bizarre Eats. Still can't find the travel packets though - even in lexington walmarts. We'll keep an eye out though.

Blog Post CommentI just took these cups on vacation for my son. There is a lot in each cup (more than enough for a couple pieces of toast). Perfect for vacations!
-
Blog Post CommentGlad to know they worked well. From the pic, they pretty small, but I've found w/ the single serving things like that, I tend to not use it all.
-
Blog Post CommentOoh, I found a clip of the show ! This only shows him tasting it and nothing else about the company though.
-
Blog Post CommentLonger clip

Blog Post CommentJust an FYI, the cake mixes have xantham gum which is typically derived from corn. My son has a corn allergy. I emailed the company to ask what their xantham gum is derived from since the claim to be corn free and I have not gotten a response.
-
Blog Post CommentHi, Tiffani, thanks! This is an older blog post, so it's good that you reached out to the company. My DD has a corn allergy as well, so I know how hard it is to find things that work for your family. Welcome! You'll find awesome support here!
-
Blog Post CommentHi Tiffani - it's hard to find gluten-free products without xanthan gum. There tends to be a lot of controversy over the gums added to gluten-free foods. Xanthan gum is not technically derived from corn. It's extracted from a microbe that can be grown on a refined corn sugar as a substrate. The end product is highly refined and "shouldn't" have any intact corn proteins remaining. Everyone is different and there are some people who do react to xanthan gum. This gets really tricky with the...
-
Blog Post Comment❤️Kathy, thank you SO much for that information! I am new to this so I did not know those details I had just been told to avoid gum in general because it was derived from corn! That actually makes me feel better about trying some products with xantham gum. I am looking for a box cake mix for my son’s first birthday and having the hardest time. Current allergies are corn, milk, egg, wheat, oat, soy, treenuts, peanut, chicken, and banana. Some of this may be false positives, but we are avoiding...
-
Blog Post CommentTiffani - I'm going to start a new topic for you using the info about looking for a cake mix.
-
Database Record CommentYummy Yum Yum
-
Database Record Comment❤️My son loves these! Great for quick snack before and after working out !
-
Database Record CommentChristine, glad you have been able to find your son a quick snack that he likes!
-
Database Record CommentWe loooooove Daiya products....however I wish companies would stop putting rice in ingredients. If a child has FPIES they cannot eat this. So many products have rice in it
-
Database Record Comment❤️Awesome find! Heads-up to those who manage legume allergies, they do contain chickpea flour and pea protein...
-
Blog Post Comment❤️How do I use it? To use VeganEgg, follow the instructions on the package to mix the powder with ice cold water. For example, here are the directions for using VeganEgg to make a scramble: Whisk or blend 2 level tablespoons of VeganEgg per ½ cup of ice cold water until smooth. Heat a lightly-oiled skillet to medium-high. Pour the mixture into the skillet. The "egg" should sizzle in pan. IMMEDIATELY begin to scramble. Use a spatula to stir frequently and evenly scramble the mixture until eggs...

Blog Post CommentExciting!

Blog Post CommentSo I'm looking at this and thinking it may be something to trial a little with my son this summer. We know potato and coconut are doable. Would the extracts have a lot of proteins in them? And food starch is usually a corn source, right? OMG I just realized he may be able to try this! Also heard it may be right at our S&S
-
Blog Post CommentNot sure what the modified food starch is - could be corn or tapioca. Definitely not wheat or they'd have to declare that.
-
Blog Post CommentWe tried their new "garden herb" - big thumbs up from our kids!
-
Blog Post CommentThis definitely sounds exciting. My heartfelt thanks to the people at Follow Your Heart. However, I didnt find this on amazon yet. Btw, it would be helpful if some more nutritional information is included like how much fat, protein etc. Though I am not good at nutrition, I have seen "Carrageenan" in a negative light in nutrition blogs in general. Is this a concern? Can anybody throw some light?
-
Blog Post CommentI'm just now seeing this - very exciting! I'll have to keep an eye out for it. goodsammy - I have seen some comments and discussion about carrageenan, but it's not something I have researched.
-
Blog Post CommentWow! I am very excited to try this out! I am more interested it trying it out as an egg replacer in things like brownies (which are difficult to make without eggs) than as actual scrambled eggs. I am pretty sure Eli would not touch anything that looked like an egg! I noticed that Amazon is not selling it yet but did find it at Vegan Essentials : https://store.veganessentials....our-heart-p4615.aspx They are sold out but are getting more in soon.
-
Blog Post CommentCarrageenan is being removed from many non-dairy milks now because of consumer demand. So Delicious has removed it from many of their products and I believe will be removing it from all products eventually. I believe it is a possible carcinogen made from seaweed and also causes gastrointestinal distress for some. It gives me a headache if I have too much of it. Here is more information about carrageenan: http://www.cornucopia.org/wp-c...rageenan-Report1.pdf
-
Blog Post CommentCarrageenan is allowed in infant formulas in the US, one of the most closely scrutinized & regulated substances for sale. "Nutrition blogs" give me the heebie-jeebies b/c they don't have to back anything they say up - they just make their site look pretty, say what they want & rumors spread like wildfire. Very few people go digging for peer-reviewed journal articles to back up what they've read. The citations I've seen about carrageenan studies have all been done on animals. That's...
-
Blog Post CommentThe ingredient list is very difficult to read and I couldn't find the product listed on their website... but what I did read was Vegan Natural flavors? What is that?
