Blog Post CommentThis is the bread my son depends on...I've been making it for over 2 years now. We use applesauce to replace the egg, so I guess we could call ours applesauce bread!? Going to try it with sweet potatoes. Sounds yummy!

Blog Post CommentLooks delicious. Has anyone tried adding blueberries?

Blog Post CommentI tried this bread and my family loved it. My older son who doesn't have any food allergies ate 2 slices with butter and wanted more. My husband didn't think it tasted like gluten free bread at all! Thanks for this recipe. I was using egg replacer before and it didn't have much flavor. I like the extra vitamins that we are getting by using sweet potato too.

Blog Post Comment❤️I need to check and see if my kids can even have yeast but I was wondering if anyone has tried this with a different flour mix, my kids cannot have rice, which is in the King Arthur mix. Sounds so good and we would love to have a non soy bread or cracker!,,

Blog Post CommentNote that this calls for a box of BREAD mix, not just the flour mix. There are other ingredients in there as part of the mix besides just the flour/starch. Here is a PDF of the bread mix label.

File CommentI used the Wilton mini whoopie pie pan to make the cake circles. I actually used a box mix for the cake - I like Orgran's gf vanilla but sub out the egg with 1/2 c pear sauce or applesauce plus 1/2 tsp baking powder. The orange buttercream is 1 stick of butter/margarine plus 1 pound of powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, and about 4 tbsp of orange juice - adjust the liquid for a soft frosting. I bought the plastic tubes on Amazon, but Wilton makes ones now too. To assemble, you push a cake circle...

File Comment❤️Black Forest Brownie Torte I made these last night so I could run one over to a friend whose ds just started an elimination diet for D/E/Gluten. I didn't have cherry pie filling or the time to make my own, but did have a can of tart pie cherries. I just used drained cherries and it worked fine. I used this Wilton Heart Pan and it made 3 cakes. I baked it for 15 min and they were done perfectly! The hardest part was greasing the pan to make sure all the crevices were all coated w/ shortening.

Blog Post CommentI am new to this food allergy thing. My son also has EoE and has now been put on the six food elimination diet. i love to bake. to have purchased buckwheat flour, quinoa flour and tapioca flour. I want to make a flour blend that is also nutritious. I'd like to make his bread as well as muffins pancakes, and anything else a 2 year old might like. I'm not sure of the nutritionsl content of the king Arthur flour blend that you've recommended. I will definitely use that when making cakes etc,...

Blog Post CommentWhat about a gf corn free soy sauce?

Blog Post CommentIf coconut is safe, there is coconut aminos. Otherwise, I've had good success using umeboshi vinegar. It doesn't have the same depth of flavor (or color - it's purple which can be an odd color in some things), but give that salty "bite" to things. Another options is balsamic vinegar plus salt. That's a little sweeter though. If you can do fish, nuc mam (Vietnamese fish sauce) is another option.
