Kids With Food Allergies (KFA), a division of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, hosted a webinar with Sloane Miller, MFA, MSW, LMSW, called Food Allergy Confidence During the Holidays.
Ms. Miller discussed what you need to know to communicate your needs to your family and friends. She said families with food allergies need to:
- Understand the food allergy diagnosis
- Communicate the food allergy diagnosis
- Form positive and supportive relationships around your food allergy diagnosis
Medical needs are non-negotiable, said Ms. Miller, the founder and president of Allergic Girl Resources, Inc. Be clear, firm and factual when talking to relatives and friends when planning holiday events.
She also discussed:
- Mourning the loss of the holidays of your childhood
- Reframing what the holidays mean now
- Connecting with the joy of the season
KFA thanks Ms. Miller for donating her time to prepare and give this webinar. We also thank Mylan Specialty for sponsoring this webinar.
