    Which meal is the most challenging for finding safe foods or recipes?

    Breakfast - traditional breakfast foods often contain my families food allergens
    Breakfast - I can't find "on the go" convenience items or they are too expensive
    Lunch - I dread packing my child's lunchbox everyday!
    Afterschool Snack - the ravenous horde descends every afternoon
    Dinner - it's hard to find recipes and I have to make too many substitutions
    Dinner - I don't have time to cook from scratch every day and it's hard to find convenience foods or they are too expensive
    Desserts - it's hard to find safe treats
    Desserts - recipes often need too many substitutions and the alternative ingredients are expensive

    Congratulations to our unicorn Gwen, who doesn't let her food allergies hold her back from enjoying Halloween! Gwen loves playing viola in school this year, doing crafts and hanging out with friends. She is the winner of a Go Veggie prize pack and a KFA t-shirt!

    Thanks for providing this information. By the way, the link you've shared appears to be incorrect. I found the guideline listed above in: Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Food Allergy in the United States: Summary of the NIAID-sponsored Expert Panel Report (p. 9, 3.7).

    Hi Heddi, thanks for posting the link to the expert panel report. That is the report published in the clinical literature ( Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology ), which is the primary resource on this topic written for the clinician. The link we posted above is the NIH publication that is based on the Expert Panel Report and is written in plain language for patients, families and caregivers.     I was complacent. My 14 year old daughter was complacent. Eye-rolls and annoyed posture every time I asked if she had her epi-pen. She doesn't remember her reaction when she was 2.75 years old and there have been many, many expired epi-pens since. I used to say it was the best money I ever threw away.     We found shredded Diaya in chedder and LOVE it! It's not as good if it's not melted, but it tasted great on pizza and macaroni and cheese! I teared up when my three year old had his first taste of macaroni and "cheese". It melts great.

    We have used the shredded cheddar and mozarella varieties in a number of recipes, and we love it. Melts great, smells like dairy cheeses, the melted texture is similar to milk-based cheeses, The Jalapeno variety was way too spicy for my son, age 11. Also keeps unopened for months, for weeks opened, and can be frozen. Only drawback is no calium or protein, really. Looking forward to trying the wedges...I wonder how the costs will compare?
