Thanks! I made these for a school Valentines party and they were a big hit. They were super easy - instead of making one big "thumbprint" I used my pinky finger and did "pinky print" 2 times at opposite angles. Rolling the dough in sanding sugar (before doing the "pinky print" hearts) gave them a little something extra special. I'm thinking of doing Halloween ones with orange & black sanding sugars and apricot jam.
1/4 cup crisco 16 oz bag mini marshmallows 2 tsp pure clear vanilla 2 Tbsp water 2 lbs powdered sugar Measure the powdered sugar and put in bowl of stand mixer with the hook attachment. Grease the hook with crisco. Next, measure 1/4 cup of crisco into a large microwave safe bowl and take a small piece of it to grease the whole bowl. Add in the marshmallows, vanilla and water. Microwave for 60 seconds and then stir. Continue to microwave on 30 second intervals and mixing until it's smooth.
Sure! The body was 2 layers of Wacky Cake baked in a loaf pan. The legs, tail and beak (is that what a platypus has? lol) were rice krispie treats formed into the appropriate shapes. It was all covered in colored Marshmallow Fondant. The eyes are halved marshmallows with chocolate chip centers. The hair is tootsie roll.
Egg & dairy-free cake = wacky cake (super easy to make!). Ganache is dark chocolate gently melted with (usually) heavy cream - to make these dairy-free, I used "full fat" coconut milk (the kind in a can). I used THIS ganche recipe / tutorial - and used safe chocolate chips (such as Enjoy Life) and coconut milk in a can (full fat - not the "light kind!), and added a little vanilla. I don't have a kitchen scale, so I estimated amounts using the weight info from the chocolate chip and...
I have noticed that oatmeal-raisin is a common flavor for allergy friendly foods...what's funny is that my daughter is allergic to oatmeal and raisins (allergic to grapes). But I'm glad to see the chocolate chip and brownie varieties! I'll be on the lookout for these.
