Love seeing these #NewFoodFinds ~ the brownie crisps look delicious and the veggie bites & burgers sound really interesting! And great to see more products that are corn-free as well!
WTG Robyn Love the idea of the spirit day and the extra minutes of recess instead of a sugary treat ~ what a great way to encourage kids to be more active and that there are other ways to celebrate outside of having treats.
It is a kid friendly allergy cookbook titled get cooking with mickey and friends. The boy is holding the book in the picture in that post. My family is a huge Disney fans and would love this cookbook. I checked on amazon and they only had used ones. Any infer you can get on acquiring it would be appreciated. THanks so much, Heather
The book was donated to us by our Allergist/medical director. They weren't put into print for sale - just offered through the Dr. offices as a promotional thing. I'd love to have them all the time for use! I may look into Amazon myself to find them and buy them for when we have contests/etc for our group to give away....used or not! Or start a trading library within our group. My son and I have decided that he should do a cooking channel on Youtube for kids with food allergies -something...
I love this post for so many reasons. Bravo to mother & child both!! It sounds like Nevada has been taught well and is a well-rounded young lady. Best wishes to both of you.

I have never tried the Enjoy Life brand, but I have made dairy, soy, nut-free molded chocolates many times using chips from Chocolate Emporium. The problem I experience is that the molded chocolates looks wonderful at first, but they develop a 'bloom' (the whitish coating mentioned in the original post) very quickly, even when stored at just room temperature. In fact, I can only make the chocolates a day or two ahead because of this discoloration. Do any of you know a way I could prevent...
We love Wacky Cake! A note from living at high altitude ... my wacky cake cupcakes were delicious but a bit flat and even sunken, so I dug out my cookbooks to read up on baking at high altitude, and based on that info made the following adjustments to the recipe: 1) reduced the baking soda to 3/4 teaspoon 2) reduced the sugar by a couple tablespoons 3) increased the baking temperature to 375 degrees 4) reduced the baking time a couple minutes (cupcakes I do about 18 min) After making those...
Thanks so much! We also love "KFA Celebrates Chanukah" and have sent copies of this great resource to schools, family & friends: http://www.kidswithfoodallergi...ebrates-Chanukah.pdf
I never can find this in a store. I love their Veganaise with the purple top. I so missed BLTs and chicken salad. With Veganaise, tofu and xantham gum, I can even make crab cakes like my MIL (lots of bread crumbs) but it holds together.

Happy Anniversary! While I love the work that you do, I am not sure I agree with Dr. Douglas Johnston's advice regarding making peanut butter sandwiches at school. He is suggesting that the allergic child be excluded from the lunch-making activity. I would say "exclude the food, not the child." Maybe they could use Sunbutter or soybutter instead, or pick some other food to serve. Sincerely, Anna Bauer
This is great news! Wish they had this available a few months ago when my toddler had to make use of an epinephrine injection. I feel like the epinephrine injection itself caused nearly as much shock to his system as the allergen, since it was a slightly higher dose then his 30lb pound could handle. We love Auvi-Q injectors and their ease of use. I wish insurance would cover them so we could refill next year beyond the initial affordability program. Thanks for posting! What great news this...
Wow! What a tough journey. I love shrimp but am kind of afraid to try it with my kid. We had a bad experience with trying TN at home. I would advise your friend with the PN daughter to take it in careful steps. I thought my DD was PN only and gave her almonds, it went fine. Then I gave her cashews and we called 911.... First step is peanut component blood test. Apparently there are several different proteins in the peanut one can be allergic to. Some proteins track towards "outgrowing" it,...
They are both great! My son enjoyed the Mac n Cheese for dinner last night, first time he's ever liked a dairy free mac n cheese. I tasted it, it was fantastic. Today for lunch he asked to have sunbutter on the crackers and devoured them. We love Earth Balance products!
