I don't know that it would work. Rice flour is super-fine ground rice--think of rice that has gone through a grinder--and it has the properties of rice, so it will absorb water like rice does when you cook it. Potato flour is form potatoes that have been dried and I don't know that they would re-hydrate the same way. BUT potato flour isn't so terribly expensive and I would encourage you to try it. I have idiopathic anaphylaxis. I'm told it's a form of a mast cell disorder. All it means is that I can become anaphylactic to anything at anytime. Example- I just had knee replacement surgery. Hi Kathy, Yes, I would assume this would do nicely with celery instead of mushroom. I've not made it myself (I'm just now convincing myself that it's okay to eat celery twice a year ). My son has been prescribed to take antihistamines on a daily basis because he has ideopathic anaphylaxis. I give him Zyrtec and Allegra daily, and from what I have read, this is the protocol for a person who has ideopathic anaphylaxis. The one thing that's not stated here is children that are seriously allergic to red dye that is in almost all foods, I have kids that are seriously allergic to red dye and made many trips to the emergency room cause of it, I found that really only organic and all natural foods don't have it and that can be really expensive to buy all the time so making your own foods is best for that one.
Welcome, @Crazy dragon mama ! You're right that it's really hard to deal with a food allergy to an ingredient that's in many foods. My daughter is allergic to cow's milk, egg, peanut and tree nut. She is 5 years old and has eaten apples (raw or cooked) without any issue for years. Last spring/summer she started complaining of itchy mouth after eating apples (in raw form). She ate them all winter (raw or cooked) with no issue. This spring started with more intense complaints of itchy mouth and itchy skin (no visible hives) after eating raw apples. Her IgE blood work was positive for apples (lower value, yet positive).
