It is a kid friendly allergy cookbook titled get cooking with mickey and friends. The boy is holding the book in the picture in that post. My family is a huge Disney fans and would love this cookbook. I checked on amazon and they only had used ones. Any infer you can get on acquiring it would be appreciated. THanks so much, Heather
Yes, I know your hamburger buns, crackers, cereal, etc do not contain pieces of peanuts that are visible to the naked eye, so please don't roll your eyes at me when I ask if there is a label I can read or if I can speak with a restaurant manager about possible cross-contamination. That and other parents please learn to read food labels! Again, if the allergen is not visible it might still be there hence the "processed on the same equipment" or "processed in the same facility" "or may contain...

Thanks for asking. We've had parents request a children's or teens forum, but as an organization, we'd need to be compliant with the federal law, COPPA - Children's Online Child Protection and Privacy Act. As such, we'd need to have parental consent for children under age 13 to participate and we'd have to monitor conversations to make sure children are adequately protected on our forums. We've asked for parent volunteers to help with an effort like this, but haven't had anyone really come...
Thank you for sharing the citation. I read the abstract as the full text wasn't available. They did not control for peanut component, just skin test wheal size. I wonder why since such a difference has been shown with the components... I'd like to open up a question too as I noticed the study included very young children. I'm a mom with a peanut allergic kid and I want there to be research done, but I'm in an ethical conundrum when it comes to putting my kid in a study. I'm just not sure it...
Thanks for your thoughtful response! We parents are faced with some difficult choices aren't we? How did you discover you child was allergic to things like mustard and chickpeas? My kid is swearing a Twizzler made her throat hurt, but she's not real trustworthy right now, she eats another flavor of them all the time and the ingredients are identical. I thin she didn't like this flavor and wanted the "yummy medicine" like her brother had moments before when dinner made his mouth itch. We are...
Wow! What a tough journey. I love shrimp but am kind of afraid to try it with my kid. We had a bad experience with trying TN at home. I would advise your friend with the PN daughter to take it in careful steps. I thought my DD was PN only and gave her almonds, it went fine. Then I gave her cashews and we called 911.... First step is peanut component blood test. Apparently there are several different proteins in the peanut one can be allergic to. Some proteins track towards "outgrowing" it,...
She is 6 and loves cooking with me. She's also a great reader and we practice with labels. One thing I've wondered.... Do you know of a book that teaches kids the different names of nuts in a fun way? I learned by eating them, but when you avoid nuts it is hard to teach a kid all the names and shapes to be alert for. Thanks for all the feedback. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this website.
The jelly beans on this post look to me to be "Brachs Jelly Bird Eggs" (which have CC labeling that put them on our :not safe: list -- and thank you, Brachs, for labeling to allow consumers the ability to make safe choices, even if it means we don't buy your products). Is this just a stock photo of Easter candy or is this a allergen friendly option?!? Both Gimbals & Starburst beans are great, yummy options for my tree-nut allergic kid, but I'd love to find a "classic" jelly bean, too.
Hope the recipe works for you @Nina3712 The thought of sending if your kid off to college is hard. Throw in managing food allergies and it's really scary! Teaching basic cooking skills and finding easy recipe is a great way to prepare them. My daughter is in her second year and manages well. But she has "easy" allergies to avoid. We have a number of members on the forums who have kids in college or are gearing up to send them in the next couple years. This is a search of topics about dorm...
Leslie, I'm not sure ... I'm thinking you could try it without it but you may have to adjust the other ingredients because the protein powder may act like a binder of sorts, and it may be too wet otherwise. I'll send up a flare and see if we can't figure it out.
Thank you, KFA!!! My kid doesn't just survive food allergies -- she THRIVES, and I owe it ALL to the wonderful resources offered by Kids With Food Allergies!
Hi; DD is fragile atopic; the idiopathic uticatia dx was used to fast track xolair approval. Long story, involving immune dysfunction and NIH, but she’s on cell cept now and feeling better. That would not typically be a path for a fa kid.
Wow, that was a great catch, Sunny! Does your daughter avoid both peanuts and tree nuts? Here's a great resource that's helped me understand labeling ... FAQ About the Food Allergen Labeling Consumer Protection Act . It was eye-opening how many exceptions there were!
Hi, Joyce, the trainer in an Epi pack is usually a "look alike" that doesn't have a needle. It can be reset to be used over and over again. It's basically a way to teach people which end is up, as with a real Epi, it can be confusing and you want the meds to go in your kid and not in a teacher or staff person's thumb.
I CAN'T wear a face covering. It is a seizure trigger for me. Just as there should not be a one-size-fits-all 504 plan, so too there should not be a one-size-fits-all cloth face covering plan. I am frustrated with the "recommendations" and the "guidance" I get from officials. I am frustrated with quite frankly, blatantly discriminatory practices put in place "for the greater good" which deny reasonable accommodations for me and my children, as well as access to services. It is really...
We have been looking forward to this patch for years and my kid may be too old by the time it gets approved. So much safer than other peanut allergy treatments.
