Kids With Food Allergies If whey were the only milk-derived ingredient in it, it would still have to list MILK either in parentheses after the word whey (milk) or in an "Contains: Milk" statement. However, in this case, the common name (plain English) word Milk has already appeared once in the label and FALCPA says that the allergen only need to be declared once and doesn't have to be repeated with each derivative. What to Do If You Canโ€™t Afford Epinephrine Auto-Injectors
ColoradoCarol FYI, we just filled a prescription for Auvi Q at Walgreens for $139 per 2pack. We didnโ€™t qualify for any of the assistance programs so we decided to pay out of pocket. The pharmacist at Walgreens put their own โ€œcouponโ€ in the system (it may have been a GoodRx coupon but it was cheaper than what is quoted online for GoodRx) and charged us only $139 per 2 pack. Thatโ€™s cheaper than the Auvi Q price for those not covered by insurance. [ more ]

Ellegelle I am wondering if thereโ€™s any information about how a combination of foods may contribute to an allergic reaction. At times I have had a mild reaction after ingesting a small amount of food with peanuts. Other times I have had a more severe reaction. So could it be that there is some other protein or substance that intensifies the reaction? AllergieMommie My son is 9. We don't eat at restaurants very often. We have found the very few that he seems to do well with. One being our local Mexican restaurant. Fast food restaurants are pretty much out of the question. The Mexican place(s) is very accommodating to him so far as making his food without the tortilla or shell. AAFAโ€™s Ask the Allergist: Are Cast Iron Pans Safe for Food Allergies?
MN โค๏ธ
StephC We use cast iron daily, and sometimes cook dairy and eggs in them (two of my 13 year old son's allergens.) Washing cast iron with soap and water automatically requires heat-drying and wiping with an oil once cooled. We do this daily; it's not technically "reseasoning;" it's just proper rust prevention. My family has done this since my childhood; I'm 47. I still use one of my father's skillets. Even if a pan totally rusts over, a simple scrubbing in soap and water with steel wool removes the... Baking With Food Allergies โ€“ Your Questions Answered
Kathy P If coconut is safe, there is coconut aminos. Otherwise, I've had good success using umeboshi vinegar. It doesn't have the same depth of flavor (or color - it's purple which can be an odd color in some things), but give that salty "bite" to things. Another options is balsamic vinegar plus salt. That's a little sweeter though. If you can do fish, nuc mam (Vietnamese fish sauce) is another option. [ more ]
